This is a photo of the last baseball game I was ever scheduled to call almost a decade ago. UNC at Virginia Tech on ESPN3: a game that never happened.

Before we launch into today’s article, just a reminder that this month’s edition of Office Hours is taking place TOMORROW: Wednesday, March 26 at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET. Join me and other broadcasters as we talk shop and connect with one another for our monthly Zoom meetings that are reserved for people at the Office Hours subscription level. If you’d like to level up your game, just click the button below.

We offered up a list of basketball words to help your vocabulary around the sport, and thought we’d try to bring a similar list for baseball with the season right around the corner. While no list of words is exhaustive, reviewing a list like this at least two to three times a week can definitely increase your ability to manifest the right word at the right moment. So, without further ado, here is the baseball list I’ve stored up, tweaked and added to with AI. I hope to refine this even further once the MLB season begins and we’re able to monitor what’s going on with other broadcasts a little more intently.
